Rockies First Robotic Pitch
Location
Coors Field
Date
May/5/2022
Role
Lead for Electrical and Catapult Calibration
Our project was the first Robotic pitch ever thrown on the Rockies field. The robotic part was not entirely autonomous since it had to be manually loaded, however, we had an automatic launch and button press from a blow-up Dinger. The project had to be a catapult that could launch the ball 50 feet into Dinger's mitt. It did it successfully and we went home with one of the firsts in Baseball history.
I personally did the vast majority of wiring on this project in addition to calibrating and making the catapult. I got help from the rest of my team on the calibrating and making of the catapult though. The project used elastic bands to launch the ball from a curved arm (as seen below).
