Lichtenberg Burned Desk
Location
Denver, Colorado
Date
Still going on
Role
Made by me for me
This desk was really fun for me to build and taught me a lot of woodworking and epoxy-making skills. It started off inspired by Lichtenberg burn projects and epoxy river projects and then I decided that I also wanted to add lights. The base wood was butcher block, nice plywood, and some 2x4s. The process was as follows:
I modeled this desk in blender then cut, sanded, and screw the boards for the desk together. I also used a neon sign transformer to burn Lichtenberg burns into the surface. I then added channels and slid the LED's in the channels. I caulked and epoxied the river and the Lichtenberg burns. The Last thing I did was some cleanup of the epoxy because I had some leaks in the caulk I didn't find that created some drips and other things.
